Do you want to know the secret to a good detox?
It’s probably simpler, cheaper and has longer lasting effects than what you would think!
The secret to the best detox you can do…. Is to support detoxification DAILY.
Rather than once a year, after you’ve absolutely hammered your detoxification organs.
Detoxification is a natural and innate metabolic process, in which every cell in our body performs daily. Breaking down toxins into less harmful substances, before eliminating them through the bodies various elimination pathways.
Unfortunately these days we live in a bit of a toxic world, with toxins hiding in many of our foods, beverages, hygiene and cleaning products, houses, and even air.
Meaning many of us are already carrying a toxic load. When paired with a few harmless drinks or sweets, our toxic load accumulates very quickly and leaves our detoxification systems overburdened and unable to cope.
In this month’s blogs we will be discussing how to encourage DAILY detoxification. To support wellness and vitality everyday of the year, and give your body the resilience to allow for some extra indulgence every now and then.
Detoxification is needed if you are suffering from the following:
- Brain fog, poor concentration

- Arthritis
- Aches in joints and muscles
- Mucous congestion
- Hormonal imbalance
- Acne
- Eczema

- Strong body odour
- Susceptible to infections.
Factors which increase your toxic load

- Chemical exposure – cleaners, hairdressers, mechanics, builders, painters, gardeners, pesticide sprayers etc
- Air pollution
- Water pollutants

What are the main systems involved in elimination and detoxification?
Liver
Processes substances from the blood, into a form that can be carried and excreted by the kidneys. Considered the main organ of detoxification, poor liver function can have a flow on effect on our other detoxification and elimination organs.
Lungs
Our lungs act as filters to the air we breathe and an organ of elimination through expiration.
Skin
The skin is an organ, absorbing everything applied to it, and excreting through the pores and sweat.
Lymphatic system
Alongside regulating immunity and fighting infections, the lymphatic system also acts as a bit of a rubbish run, collecting and transporting toxins to be processed for elimination.
Kidney and Urinary system
Filter our blood, involved in elimination through urination and maintains mineral and ph balance.
Gastrointestinal system
Facilitates removal of toxins from the body through bowel movements, proper function relies on gut lining health, microbiome health, hydration and fiber. Without optimal function, toxins can be recycled in the body and create further burden.
What about more intensive Detox programs?
There is definitely a time and place for more intensive detox programs. However they cannot be summarized in a blog. As detox programs should always be holistic and tailored to the individual. As we’ve discussed there are multiple detoxification systems, and a multitude of reasons an individual may require detox support. Therefore the specific support one person needs will be different to the next.
If you feel you need support in detoxification please book in a consultation with one of our Naturopaths, we can assess exactly what support you need and come up with a tailored detoxification plan for you.
