GI-MAP® with StoolOMX

The GI-MAP® with StoolOMX™ is a next-generation, all-in-one stool test that provides one of the most comprehensive assessments of gut health available today. It combines advanced microbial DNA testing (qPCR technology) with cutting-edge metabolomic profiling — giving insight not only into which microbes are present, but also how your gut is functioning on a metabolic and inflammatory level.

In addition to face to face appointments we are offer online consultations via phone or video using Telehealth

GI-MAP® with StoolOMX™ | Advanced All-in-One Gut Health Test

The GI-MAP® with StoolOMX™ is a next-generation, all-in-one stool test that provides one of the most comprehensive assessments of gut health available today. It combines advanced microbial DNA testing (qPCR technology) with cutting-edge metabolomic profiling — giving insight not only into which microbes are present, but also how your gut is functioning on a metabolic and inflammatory level.

This upgraded test helps uncover the true root causes of digestive, immune, metabolic, hormonal and inflammatory conditions — all from one stool sample.

Patient Summary: What This Test Tells Us

The GI-MAP® with StoolOMX™ looks at three critical layers of gut health:

  • Harmful and beneficial microbes (bacteria, parasites, fungi, viruses)
  • Bile acids (fat digestion, inflammation and liver-gut balance)
  • Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs) — the healing compounds your gut bacteria produce from fibre

These results allow our Naturopaths at Malvern Natural Health Care to understand:

  • Why your symptoms are happening
  • What’s disrupting your gut and immune system
  • How to create a precise, personalised treatment plan for lasting results

Who Can Benefit From Gi-map Testing?

This test is extremely useful for people experiencing:
• IBS, IBD and chronic digestive symptoms
• Constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and abdominal pain
• Gastroenteritis and food sensitivities
• H. pylori infection
• SIBO
• Autoimmune conditions
• Chronic inflammation
• Acne, eczema, psoriasis and other skin issues
• Brain fog, headaches and migraines
• Mood disorders, anxiety and low mood
• Hormonal imbalances
• Diabetes, metabolic and weight concerns
• Immune system dysfunction

What Does The Gi-map® Test Measure?

The GI-MAP® uses highly sensitive qPCR DNA technology to accurately identify and quantify:
• Parasitic infections
• Viral pathogens
• H. pylori plus virulence and antibiotic resistance markers
• Commensal and keystone bacteria
• Dysbiotic and opportunistic bacteria
• Inflammatory and autoimmune-associated bacteria
• Fungi and yeast
• Protozoa and worms
• Digestive enzyme markers
• Gut immune markers
• Inflammation markers
• Zonulin (intestinal permeability / leaky gut marker)

Bile Acids – Metabolic & Immune Regulators

Bile acids are made in the liver and released by the gallbladder to digest fats. But they also act as powerful signaling molecules that regulate:
• Gut inflammation
• Microbiome balance
• Gut lining integrity
• Blood sugar and metabolic health

Why we test bile acids:

• Assess liver and gallbladder bile production
• Identify bile acid malabsorption (common in IBS-D and post-gallbladder removal)
• Detect irritation of the gut lining from excessive primary bile acids
• Assess how well your microbiome converts bile into protective secondary bile acids
• Evaluate inflammation and long-term cancer risk through bile acid ratios
An imbalanced bile acid profile is commonly linked with diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, reflux, inflammation and metabolic dysfunction.

Short Chain Fatty Acids (Scfas) – Gut Healing Compounds

SCFAs are produced when beneficial gut bacteria ferment fibre. The most important include acetate, propionate and butyrate — all essential for gut repair and immune balance.

Why we test SCFAs:

• Evaluate how well your gut converts fibre into anti-inflammatory compounds
• Identify low butyrate production linked to leaky gut, IBS and IBD
• Detect excessive branched chain fatty acids (BCFAs) from protein putrefaction
• Assess overall dietary influence and microbial balance via SCFA/BCFA ratios
Low SCFAs are associated with poor gut motility, inflammation, obesity and metabolic disease. Elevated BCFAs suggest a pro-inflammatory, protein-heavy diet and impaired digestion.

Why Gi-map® With Stoolomx™ Is A Game-changer

This test delivers a fully functional overview of:
• Digestive health
• Inflammation and immune activity
• Metabolic and weight-loss resistance
• Gut barrier integrity (leaky gut)
• Microbiome resilience and diversity
This allows for highly targeted, individualised treatment instead of guess-based care.

Preparing For Your Gi-map® Test

2 Weeks Before Testing

Speak with your Naturopathic practitioner about your current medications and supplements, including:
• Antibiotics
• Antacids (PPIs / H2 blockers)
• Steroids
• Anti-inflammatories
• Laxatives and motility agents
• Blood thinners
• Anti-diabetic medications
Your Naturopathic practitioner will guide you on what may need to be paused temporarily.

2 Days Before Testing

Follow your normal diet and include a broad range of foods such as:
• Meat, fish and poultry
• Vegetables (raw and cooked)
• Carbohydrates (potatoes, rice, pasta, bread)
• Fats (butter, oils)
Vegetarians and vegans should continue their usual diet.

In summary

The GI-MAP® with StoolOMX™ provides one of the most advanced insights into gut, immune and metabolic health available today. This allows your Naturopath in Melbourne to move beyond symptom suppression and instead treat the true drivers of dysfunction — restoring balance at the source.
